सबकी अपनी अपनी हिंदी

प्रमोद जोशी का लेख 'मॉनसून क्यों और मानसून क्यों नहीं?' मैंने समाचार मीडिया डॉट कॉम पर पढ़ा जो संभवतः इस साईट के व्यवस्थापक भी हैं. प्रमोद जोशी की बात मुझे कुल मिलाकर अच्छी लगी. उन्होंने इस लेख में कहा है कि देवनागरी ध्वन्यात्मक लिपि है तो हमें अधिकाधिक ध्वनियों को उसी रूप में लिखना चाहिए। इससे मैं पूर्णतः सहमत नहीं हूं. देवनागरी पूर्णतः एक ध्वन्यात्मक लिपि है और इसमें कुछ विशेष ध्वनि को छोड़ कर संसार की किसी भी भाषा को लिखने की क्षमता है. इसमें कोई संदेह की बात नहीं है. इसमें किसी भी भाषा को लिखा जा सकता है. उन्होंने अपने इस लेख में आचार्य किशोरीदास वाजपेयी जी के बारे में कहा कि वह नुक्तों को लगाने के पक्ष में नहीं थे। यहां पर मैं असहमत हूं. अगर नुक्ता न लगाया जाए तो देवनागरी सारी ध्वनियों को अपने में समाने का सामर्थ्य नहीं रखती. चूंकि हिंदी में रोमन लिपि का z या उर्दू के ز   ض  ظ के वर्ण उपलब्ध नहीं हैं, जब तक इसमें नुक्ता न लगाया जाए तब तक यह जंग (war) को ज़ंग (rust) में परिवर्तित करने में असमर्थ है. यह अपवाद नहीं. यह हिंदी में अपनाना ही होगा इसे एक समृद्ध भाषा और लिपि दोनों ही बनाने में. अन्यथा अर्थ का मतलब बदले न बदले, इनके उच्चारण के साथ न्याय नहीं हो सकता.

दूसरी बात यह कि देवनागरी पूर्णतः एक ध्वन्यात्मक लिपि है, इसलिए यह ज़रूरी नहीं कि इसमें लिखे जाने वाले शब्द बिल्कुल वैसे ही हों जिस तरह वे अन्य भाषा जैसे अंग्रेज़ी   में लिखे जा रहे हों. उदाहरण के तौर पर ग्राफ़िक को ग्रैफ़िक लिखना और ग्राफ़ को ग्रैफ़ लिखना मैं उचित नहीं समझता. हां, अलबत्ता, यह ज़रूर है कि हम मॉनसून को मानसून भी नहीं लिख सकते. निस्संदेह, इससे भाषा की सुंदरता जाती रहेगी.

तीसरी बात यह कि, हिंदी को हिंदी जानकारों ने एक जीवित भाषा क़रार तो दिया है अपितु इस भाषा के लिए शोध में लोगों ने कोई दिलचस्पी नहीं दिखाई है. हिंदी के शब्दों का कोई व्युत्पत्ति विज्ञान (etymology) सामान्य नहीं है. इससे आम विद्यार्थियों को यह पता कर पाना कठिन होता है कि अमुक शब्द आया कहां से. अतः इसे एक जीवित भाषा बनाने के लिए इसके बेचने वालों (समाचारपत्र, पत्रिका, सरकारी एजेंसी, समाचार एजेंसी, इत्यादि) के बीच एक सहमति बनाए जाने की आवश्यकता है और इसके लिए एक मानक शब्दकोष (अब शब्दकोष ही ले लें, कुछ लोग इसे शब्दकोश भी लिखते हैं, इस पर भी सहमति आवश्यक है) अत्यंत आवश्यक है. क्षमा चाहता हूं, लेकिन सरकार जो शब्दकोष निकालती है वे सरकार के पास ही रह जाती हैं. सर्फ़ एक्सेल से हटाए गए दाग़ की तरह ये भी बाजार में तभी मिलती हैं जब इसको बारीकी से ढूंढा जाए. पूर्ण विराम लगाएं खड़ी लकीर की तरह या बिंदु से ही काम चलाया जाय, यह भी एक मुद्दा है.  

तकनीकी शब्दावली की हिंदी, साहित्यिक हिंदी से अधिक परेशान करने वाली बन रही है. तकनीकी हिंदी में कहीं कुछ है तो कहीं कुछ. कोई save का अर्थ सहेजें लगा रहा है तो कोई सेव करें और कोई संचित करें. क्या यह आने वाले दिनों में इन सॉफ्टवेयर के उपयोगकर्ताओं के लिए कठिनाई खड़ी करने नहीं जा रहा है? अलग अलग अनुवादक अलग अलग तरह से शब्दों को ले रहे हैं. सीडैक और माइक्रोसॉफ्ट जैसी दो संस्थाओं ने इसके लिए अपना एक भाषा पोर्टल ही लॉन्च कर दिया है जहां अनुवादक इन भाषा पोर्टल का सहारा ले कर अपना अनुवाद करते हैं. हास्यास्पद यह है कि दोनों में बहुत  कम समानता है. कई शब्द ऐसे हैं जिनके बीच भेद करना कठिन है. उदाहरण के लिए हिंदी की एक स्थिति के लिए अंग्रेज़ी के position, status, condition हैं. ऐसी स्थिति में, अनुवाद हुए इस सॉफ्टवेयर पर कार्य करने वालों के ह्रदय और मस्तिष्क की जवाबदेही इश्वर भी शायद ही ले सके! इसी प्रकार, कई ऐसी जगह जहां पहले से प्रचलित शब्द हिंदी में मौजूद हैं तो फिर उनका उपयोग क्यों न किया जाए. उदाहरण के लिए टेलीफ़ोन को हिंदी में क्यों टेलीफ़ोन कहा जाए? इसे दूरभाष क्यों न कहा जाए? इस में आपत्ति कहां है? लेकिन जहां पर शब्द हैं वहां पर उसका उपयोग नहीं करेंगे और जहां नहीं है वहां अपनी हिंदी डालेंगे. यह हिंदी को मातृभाषा नहीं मात्रभाषा बनाने का तरीका है. एक बार मैंने हिंदी दिवस पर फेसबुक पर एक 'हमारी भाषा'  अलापने वाले व्यक्ति की पोस्टिंग पढ़ी. वहां  यही 'मात्रभाषा को बचाओ' लिखा हुआ था. अब हमें तय करना है कि हमें मातृभाषा को बचाना है या मात्रभाषा को. यदि मातृभाषा को बचाना है तो उसी तरह इसे बचाना होगा जिस तरह हम अपनी माँ को गालिओं से बचाते हैं. 

यह बात केवल हिंदी समाचारपत्रों या पत्रिकाओं तक ही सीमित नहीं है बल्कि अमिताभ बच्चन जैसे महानायक इस बात को कहते हुए नहीं थकते कि हिंदी फिल्म उद्योग ने पूरी दुनिया को हिंदी सिखाया है. वहां भी हिंदी की बेचारगी झलकती है. कुछ सालों पहले, बहुत पुरानी बात नहीं है, हम सबको अच्छे से यह याद होगा, एक फिल्म आई थी 'ओम शांति ओम' जिसका एक बड़ा प्रचलित संवाद था ‘अगर इंसान किसी चीज़ की इच्छा मन से कर ले तो पूरी कायनात उसे पूरा करने के लिए साज़िश में लग जाती है'. यह असल में पाउलो की किताब अल केमिस्ट से ली गयी थी जहां पाउलो हमेशा अपने पात्र के माध्यम से यह कहलवाता है, जो उस किताब की कई सुंदरताओं में से एक है. यहां तो कायनात का बला**** हुआ न? साज़िश शब्द हमेशा से ही एक नकारात्मक शब्द रहा है. हम मनुष्य सदियों से एक दूसरे के खिलाफ़ इसका उपयोग करते आ रहे हैं. क्या कायनात कभी साज़िश जैसा घिनौना कार्य करती है? तो, हम क्या कहें ? यह कहें की हमारे हिंदी फिल्म जगत की भी एक अपनी हिंदी है. उसी प्रकार दशकों से प्रिंट मीडिया और इलेक्ट्रॉनिक मीडिया ने ख़िलाफ़त को विरुद्ध या विरोध का दर्जा दे दिया. कई फिल्मों और बड़े बड़े समाचारपत्रों में मैंने देखा की ख़िलाफ़त का उपयोग विरोध के लिए हो रहा है जबकि इसके लिए मुख़ालिफ़त सही शब्द है और ख़िलाफ़त का इससे कोई लेना देना ही नहीं. ख़िलाफ़त शब्द इस्लाम के ख़लीफ़ा से जुड़ा है.

कुल मिलकर यहां पर मुझे एक बात कहने को मन करता है कि हिंदी केवल गानों की  या किसानों की भाषा नहीं यह विद्वानों की भी भाषा है. यह भारत के कुलीन वर्ग को समझना चाहिए और इसके लिए प्रयास करनी चाहिए कि हम जिस स्तर पर हिंदी में कार्य कर रहे हैं उसी स्तर से अपने प्रयास से हिंदी का एक मानक तैयार करें और इसे और अधिक समृद्ध बनाएं.

सहती हो इतनी सारी तकलीफें

तुम को तो न छोड़ा भगवान ने भी

पूरी कायनात का टीस दे दिया तुम्हारे हिस्से में



लोगों को बेचारी क्यों लगती हो तुम

कोख में ही पता चलने पर

तुम्हें वंचित कर दिया जाता है

दुनिया में आने से



तुम कुछ बोलती क्यों नहीं

क्यों मना नहीं कर देती हो

कोख में साँपों को पनपने से

क्यों नहीं मना कर देती हो वासना का शिकार बनने से



एक ही कारण मुझे नज़र आता

क्योंकि तुम औरत नहीं भगवान हो

जो सिर्फ देता है ज़रूरत में

तुम बेचारी नहीं बलवान हो महान हो .



मैं तुम्हें सलाम करता हूँ

हजारों बार नहीं करोड़ों बार

क्योंकि मेरे दुनिया में रहने की

तुम ज़मानत्दार हो.

Principles Of Good Writing

Writing is neither art nor Science. It is commerce. It  is something that requires your energy, mind and time.   A writer is not born. Writer is a matter of rigorous practice and complete hard work. L.A. Hill suggests that good writing depends more upon hard labour and less upon inspiration. Some are found telling that writers are natural. Writing is ninety percent hard work and one percent inspiration as quoted by L.A. Hill. So the sooner you get into the habit of disciplining yourself to write, the better. The moment you think to start writing something, you should prepare yourself this way-

Keep a pen and a notebook with you when you are reading a newspaper, a magazine, a novel or anything of a sort. This is the first requirement of writing. Jot down new words , new phrases, new expressions.

See normal things in a different view. For example a smiling face may carry pain inside. Try to understand people around you. The nearest objects to write on are people around you. It may be your naughty  niece, your jealous neighbour, your funny friends, your unwanted relatives, your boring bosses, your talkative colleagues, your servants, etc. Try to go so much deep of a character.

Read those pieces of news that centre around people. You can have story out somebody's joy as well as his/her tragedy.

Try to create your own style. Aping never pays. Try not to ape. You can thus never become a good writer.

Write at least a few words daily. And keep increasing the number gradually.

बचपन

जब मैं बच्चा था

शरारत बहुत करता था

लोगों की डांट भी खानी पड़ती थी

अम्मीं के थप्पड़ भी बर्दाश्त करने पड़ते थे .

तब मैं सोचा करता था

बड़ा होऊंगा जल्दी

तब मुझे न खानी होगी

किसी की डांट न ही अम्मीं से डर होगा .

फिर मैं बड़ा हुआ

कोई डांटता तो नहीं अब

अम्मीं भी अब

संभाल कर बोलती हैं

लेकिन सुबह से शाम बहुत सारी

फ़िक्र होती है

कभी लोगों के ताने परेशान करते हैं

कभी रोटी की चिंता होती है .

कभी दोस्तों की मुस्कराहट में
मजाक उडाए जाने का एहसास होता है
सपने को पूरा न होते देख
बड़ी मायूसी सी लगती है .

अब रिश्तों से पहचान हो गयी है
रिश्तों को निभाना बड़ा मुश्किल लगता है
पता नहीं अब क्या करूं
काश मेरा बचपन लौट आता .

अम्मीं के थप्पड़ फिर से खाता
लोगों की डांट सुनकर मज़ा लेता
रिश्तों में काश बंधा न होता
सपनों की कोई परवाह न होती .

क्योंकि बचपन में रहना
खुद एक सपना है
काश खोदाया मेरी सुन लेता
और मैं फिर से बचपन में लौट गया होता

फिर न तमन्ना करता बड़े होने की
सिर्फ दुआ करता उस वक़्त के ठहर जाने की
जब मैं बच्चा था
शरारत बहुत करता था .

इज़हार

आज अचानक कुछ इकरार करने का दिल करने लगा है
अपने दिल के बोग्ज़ का इज़हार करने का दिल करने लगा है  
फिज़ा में मानों ग़ज़ल की समां बंध गयी  हो
ऐसा मुझे क्यों अचानक लगने लगा है  .

बिजली की कड़क में भी  नज़्म
के  मिठास  का  एहसास  होने  लगा  है
फूल  चाहे  कोई  भी  हो
गुलाब  ही  लगने  लगा  है

अब  दुश्मनों  से भी  दिल

लगाने   का  दिल  करने  लगा  है
पता  नहीं  क्यों
सब  फिर  से  अपना  लगने  लगा  है .

रात  में  जो  ख्वाब  मुझे  अक्सर
परेशां  करते  थे
अब  दिन  में  भी  उनसे
मुझे  उन्स  होने  लगा  है

मैं  नहीं  जानता  ये
बदलाव  क्यों  होने  लगा  है
सिर्फ वह    दिन याद  है  जब  मैं  तुमसे  मिला  था
उसी  दिन  से  मानो  सब  कुछ  बदलने  लगा  है .

प्रेमिका

मेरा दोस्त कहता है उसकी प्रेमिका

की आँखें बहुत नशीली हैं
मानो झांककर नाप ले उसमें
पूरे समंदर की गहराइयां.

मेरा दोस्त कहता है उसकी प्रेमिका
के गाल बहुत कोमल हैं
रुई से भी कोई मुकाबला नहीं
मानो थिरक रही हों हवा के हलके झोंकों पर .

मेरा दोस्त कहता है उसकी प्रेमिका
के होंठ गुलाबी हैं
पंखुड़ियों की तरह गुलाब के
मानो सफ़ेद बादल में लाली छा गयी हो .

मेरा दोस्त कहता है  उसकी प्रेमिका
की खुशबु बिलकुल अनोखी
कस्तूरी से भी ज्यादा मीठी
और हमेशा बरक़रार रहने वाली .

मेरा दोस्त कहता है उसकी प्रेमिका
कुदरत की एक कलाकारी है
जो युगों युगों में कभी कभी
विरले ही अवतरित होती हैं ज़मीन पर .

मेरी प्रेमिका में वैसा कुछ भी नहीं
सीधी साधी भोली भाली
बिलकुल काले बादलों का रंग
मानों खोदा ने उसे तिरस्कार के मूड में बनाया हो .

लेकिन उसकी चंचलता
उसकी बेबाकी
उसके नखरे
उसका अधिकार जमाने का मेरे ऊपर वो रवैया .

मुझे एहसास दिलाता है
मानो इश्वर ने उसे
मेरे लिए ही बनाया था
तिरस्कार से नहीं बलके बड़े प्यार से .

क्योंकि जानता था वह
रूप से मुझे क्या लेना देना
मैं तो पढ़ लेता हूँ मन को
वह मेरे मन की है और मैं उसके मन का .

वेश्या

एक वेश्या थी . उसका एक नियमित ग्राहक था . काम से थक हार कर वह रोजाना उस वेश्या के पास अपनी भूख  मिटाने आता और अपनी भूख मिटाकर घर लौट जाता. अपनी मजदूरी का कुछ भाग उसे दे जाता.
एक दिन उसे मजदूरी नहीं मिला . उसके पास पैसे नहीं थे . लेकिन भूख लगी थी . वह वेश्या के पास गया और अपनी भूख मिटाई. जाने लगा तो उस वेश्या ने अपना मजदूरी मांगी लेकिन उसके पास पैसे नहीं थे . वेश्या ने अपनी मजदूरी के बदले उसके हाथ में बंधी हुई पुरानी दहेज़ कि घडी उतरवा ली .

वेश्या कहीं की . ग्राहक बडबडाया और चला गया .   

धर्म निरपेक्ष

वह किसी बड़े  देश का राजा था . उसके बारे में लोग कहते थे कि वह धर्म निरपेक्ष था . एक दिन वह अपने काफिले के साथ कहीं जा रहा था. रास्ते में उसे एक विशाल गिरजाघर मिला. गिरजाघर बहुत सुन्दर था . उसके मीनार में संगमरमर लगे थे . उसके फर्श और दीवारें सस्ते पत्थर के बने थे . उस गिरजाघर को देखकर राजा ने अपने मंत्रियों से कहा.  इस गिरजाघर के पास एक मंदिर बनाओ , जिसके दीवार , मीनार और फर्श पुरे संगमरमर के हों . आखिर लोग मुझे धर्म निरपेक्ष कैसे कहेंगे .  मेरे शासन में हर गिरजा घर के साथ साथ मंदिर होना चाहिए .
अब वहां मंदिर भी है. लोगों ने राजा के इस कृत्य के लिए उस राजा कि खूब जयजयकार की . आज भी उस देश में उसी राजा का राज है .  

Doctors need special treament for their ailing soul!!

One recent incident that has taken place in Bihar (India) where some bodyguards shot at some junior doctors in Gaya Medical College and Hospital. Reason is unknown. Who was at fault is still mysterious. Whatever the reason be prima facie shows that actions done by bodyguards were out of frustration. When you see the conditions of your ward worsening in a government hospital and doctors pay no heed to your repeated requests even the weakest can collect strength to do what the bodyguards did. I strongly support the courage shown by the bodyguards for I have also been a victim of the same circumstances. My one year niece was admitted in Patna Medical College and Hospital with a serious heart disease. When I went to the doctor on duty to request him to see the baby who was feeing breathless, the doctor over there treated so inhuman that anybody can shoot him provided he would have the guts. Had I been had a pistol I would have done the same what the bodyguards have done. I was with my niece for a week there praying each minute to get rid of these doctors. Meseems doctors nowadays enjoy watching dying people in hospitals. They are so insensitive that sometimes I feel they have no hearts. Doctors are criminals in the guise of white coats. My niece died after a few months but the wound still persists on my heart. Today , I hate the doctors most. Wherever you see you will find that doctors are quite insincere towards their duties. Either they are just passing time in government hospitals or they are making money in their own clinics. Medical services have become a business now. I wrote one letter to the Chief Minister of Bihar suggesting him a few measures he must take to improve the conditions in the hospitals but in vain. Mr. Nitish Kumar did not feel even to reply the letter to me. I had suggested him to introduce one paper of Moral Education in Medical Colleges. And those who show sensitiveness towards humanity should be given degrees only. I remember one famous quotation at this point of time of a great philosopher that universities are turning out educated barbarians is correct to its each letter. Today medical colleges are turning out only barbarians. Right from kids level those who wish to become doctors have desire to earn money , repute and nothing else. Nobody thinks of human services.

On a small issue doctors go on strike. They paralyze the entire medical system. I am shocked to see how people bear with these things. They really do not understand what is happening or they do not want to understand. They have closed their eyes or they are really blind. Doctors are demanding to bring some act for their protection. Is there no need to bring some act for protecting common man from these demons in white coats?

Today we are trying to touch the sky in the field of Science and Technology. We are going into the Space to explore new opportunities to let life exist. For whom? Humanity is wounded. It is crying. Scientists world over are researching on new remedies to cure ailments and diseases. Nobody is researching on how to heal souls, how to improve morality, how to put hearts into human beings. Environmentalists, social activists, reformers, feminists are making worldwide discussions on many issues. However, no social activist dares look into ailing hearts of humanity. This is high time to ponder over how we can be human first and then other things. This is the time of greatest moral conflict in human history. Beware !!

Blasphemy, Fanaticism and Asia Bibi

I would gladly like to remind you that I am a Muslim and I love my religion. I would also like to remind you that I have no relations with people behind the innocent killings. In recent months, the case of Asia Bibi has woken up many minds. Many minds who assume religion as a way to salvation, as a way to making human beings, as a way to establishing harmony , as a way to spreading happiness, peace and equality. Can we say these characteristics match with those happened with Asia Bibi? To my opinion , a big No. By the name Asia Bibi seems to be a Muslim however she is a Christian hailing from Pakistan. She was charged with blasphemy and living in fear for life while awaiting a government decision in a dark prison of some Pakistani Jail. She was supported by a progressive and true Muslim - Salman Taseer (the governor of Punjab) and consequently paid his price of being human. He was killed. The message - Muslims can bear with none where the question of their faith arises.

I remind one small event when I asked one simple question to a friend of mine. The question was whether my beard I would grow could grow to the size of a broom that might be used to sweep the floor. The question put me in danger. The friend of mine was in mood to kill me. The question was just a query out of my curiosity. To everyone's utter surprise the friend of mine did not pronounce even first Kalima of Islam ( La Ilaha Illallah Muhammadur Rasoolullah - There is no God but Allah and Muhammad is His messenger) . I have cited this event just to show the real pictures of people behind this fanaticism. Fanaticism is not related with Islam in any means. There is no room for these people in the edifice of Islam. Islam is a religion of love , brotherhood, justice and equality. I would like to cite some very important quotations quoted by some non-Muslims thinkers and philosophers. They are -

It was the genius of Muhammad, the spirit that he breathed into the Arabs through the soul of Islam that exalted them. That raised them out of the lethargy and low level of tribal stagnation up to the high watermark of national unity and empire. It was in the sublimity of Muhammad's deism, the simplicity, the sobriety and purity it inculcated the fidelity of its founder to his own tenets, that acted on their moral and intellectual fiber with all the magnetism of true inspiration.

There is no dearth of statements like as the above for Muhammad. Alas! These words are diminishing now. And responsibility goes directly to those who are doing all this.
Asia Bibi is a simple case of relive. What she said was out of anger and resentment. She should be bailed out with honour in the light of this verse from the Quran –

“But do not revile those (beings) whom they invoke instead of God, lest they, in their hostility, relive God out of ignorance.” (6:108)

There are numerous examples when Muhammad was insulted, abused and even bruised but he neither suggested any sort of punishment nor he took any sort of revenge. In return, those who tried to abuse and insult him, embraced Islam and later proved to be asset for this great religion. There is no room for death sentence for blasphemy in Islam. Islam is religion of God. And Muhammad is the best and most loving messenger of God. Let God decide what He should do who abuses His darling. Beware! He will not leave those even who are doing all this in the name of Allah and His messenger.

Note for Muslims : Whenever name of Muhammad comes we should say Peace Be Upon Him) followed by his name. For non-Muslims it is not essential. It is on their discretion.
